MID covers different measuring instruments, including automatic weighing instruments.
A manufacturer must guarantee that all measuring instruments meet the legal requirements before they enter in the market.
INITIAL VERIFICATION AND PERIODIC VERIFICATION:
The procedure follow the MID MI-006 and OIML R61 recommendations. Thanks to this procedure the manufacturer ensures and declares that the measuring instruments are in conformity with the type described in the EC type examination certificate. Annex D allows the manufacturer to perform the initial verifications of his measuring instruments at the production site or on location without the presence of a Notified Body.
The conformity assessment procedure is based on quality assurance of the production process, which means that the manufacturer’s quality system must be certified. The quality system includes the manufacturing and final product inspection and testing.
There is also a periodic verification, which is necessary, required by the law and it needs to ensure the metrological stability of weighing systems.
For this purpose must be done the same test of initial verification.
The positive outcome of the periodic verification is attested by the affixing of a label sticker green bearing the date by which the instrument must be re-checked and any indication of the person who performed it .
